Grading
As Canyons District transitions towards mastery grading, students grades will reflect their ability to demonstrate mastery of the Common Core Standards.
Throughout the year students will do assignments, projects, and tests. They will be graded on the following grading scale.

Absent and late work

Math Journal
- Journals will be provided by instructor
- Students are expected to take daily notes
- Math journals need to be in class every day
- Journals are to be used as a tool in homework completion
- Homework will accompany each lesson, some lessons may take multiple days
- Pencils are recommended for all assignments to encourage neatness and error correction
- Students should reinforce concepts learned at school through homework with as much independence as possible
- Homework will count towards 10% of total grade
- As Canyons District moves towards a mastery grading model, the bulk of math grades will be based on assessments done in class.
- Mastery is considered 80%, therefore students who score below 80 on Topic Assessments will be given additional instruction and then required to retake the assessment
- Topic Assessments and Quizzes count towards 90% of total grade
